When my stress levels came into sharp focus on Monday afternoons homeschool session…I knew I needed to UP my self care, in order to be able to be there for others.

When we have resources to draw on that top our own cup up, we have a stronger foundation of calmness for when our name gets called for the 100th time (that hour).

So I thought I’d share what I’m taking action on; beaming you some self-love ideas through these tough weeks with some rituals to top up your wellness cup, in the hope it may help you too, or someone you love (do press share if you know someone who may benefit)

You do NOT have to do all these things, maybe there are 1 or 2 that resonate with you?  I’d love to know if you action one of these;

 

1)      The good old soak

It’s not all about bubbly baths I know…*but* after I had an epsom salt bath the other night & washed my hair, I told my other half I felt like a new Person…I won’t tell you his reply.

How can baths make us feel this way??

Epsom salts are FULL of magnesium which helps us to balance stress.  It literally works on regulating our  hormones, and soothes our muscles.  Our dietary intake to meet demands when under stress increase ~ so make sure you eat your green veggies, or DM me for bespoke advice about which magnesium supplement would be best for you.

2)     Cuppa anyone?

When you come to my website I hope you feel like you are being wrapped up in a huge hug, that feels like a big cup of tea.  I hope you can feel it.  So high on the self-care rituals this week is…hydration.  It’s not just amazing for our pelvic floor & prevention of pressure on the pelvic floor….but its also amazing for our brain & skin.

 

Do you find it harder in the Winter months to drink enough? 

I certainly do.

 

Before lockdown, I’d stocked our reception shelves with ‘Relax’ Pukka Tea & the ‘day to night’ packs & they are going down a treat in my kitchen.  If you want to add any to your ‘click & collect’ orders or add to the local drop offs I’m doing, feel free to let me know.

 

 

3)      Calling ALL BOOKWORMS

 

I just finished reading Dr. Kristin Neffs ‘Self-Compassion’ Its a book that’s been sitting on my shelf for just the right time to pick up…

 

One of the biggest takeaways I got from her book was the power of touch (like your own hand on your heart) & how it activates the calm side of your nervous system to make you feel safe in the moment, even if your brain thinks it feels awkward, your body will LOVE it.

 

What this means is that in these tough times, there are ways we can care for ourselves whilst caring for others too ❤

4)      The humble eye pillow.  Something which you may have had at the back of your cupboard for a while?

How does an eye pillow really work?

Here comes the science bit…
